Money-Saving Health-Building DIY Recipe Round-Up:
- DIY Laundry Soap, plus Alternative Bleach, Fabric Softener, Deodorizers, and Stain Removers — Replace ALL Your Laundry Products: “Most commercial laundry products are nasty pollutants to the environment, our homes, and our bodies, which is ironic when you think about it because we use them to make our clothes clean, but they are polluting us instead, go figure… Today I want to provide you with several alternatives to petrochemical-based laundry detergents, fabric softeners, dryer sheets, bleach, and stain removers that will spare you the toxins while also sparing your pocketbook $$$.“
- How to Make Perfume: DIY Aromatherapy Solid Perfume: “Did you know that synthetic perfume is the new second hand smoke? Think about it. How many times have you gotten a headache, became sneezy or wheezy, or actually “tasted” someone’s perfume in the air just by standing near them?“
- DIY Facial Toner for All Skin Types: “Facial toners are one of those optional facial products that some people wouldn’t do without and others have never even tried, but they have many benefits. Their astringent nature makes pores appear smaller, they remove last traces of oil, dirt, makeup, and cleanser, and return skin to a normal acidic pH, which is especially important if you use an alkaline cleanser, like soap. But commercial toners are usually full of mystery chemical ingredients that you would never choose to eat, which is a concern since much of what is applied to our skin can actually absorb into our bodies. Plus they’re expensive…“
- DIY Facial Serum and Beard Oil (for Your Hairy Honey!): “When I began making my own facial creams, they *usually* turned out well (and when they didn’t I could *usually* fix them), and I loved the fact that I could customize my formula and that it never had creepy, synthetic chemical ingredients. However, when it comes to facial moisturizers I’ve seen the light… I now prefer facial oil serums over creams, and here’s why…“
- DIY Facial Cleansing Grains: 3-in-1 Cleanser-Exfoliator-Mask: “As a former hair stylist and esthetician, I’ve always been particular about my skincare products. But as a naturally-minded real foodie, I am also leery of toxic ingredients in even high-end, professional products and the potential for a myriad of questionable and down-right carcinogenic and endocrine disrupting chemicals to absorb through my skin and wreak havoc on my body. So for years I purchased quality natural skin care… that is until I discovered how easy, fun, and economical it is to make my own. And here’s the kicker: my skin has never been better! Now I make and sell natural skincare products locally, but I also love empowering people to unplug from the “machine” and make it for themselves… Facial Cleansing Grains: “Where have you been all my life?!”
- Homemade Deodorant Powder: DIY Recipe that actually WORKS: “Most of Kelly’s readers know about the toxic nature of commercial deodorants and antiperspirants. Not only is the practice of interfering with a natural, detoxifying bodily process (sweating) questionable, but since many substances can absorb through our skin and into our bodies, we need to rethink topical application of substances linked to cancer, alzheimers, and endocrine (hormone) dysfunction. You know, like the ingredients commonly found in over-the-counter antiperspirants and deodorants: aluminum, parabens, Triclosan, propylene glycol, and synthetic fragrances. But if you’ve used natural deodorants you also probably know how ineffective most of them are.”

But all matter is made of chemicals.
Kelly the Kitchen Kop says
Technically speaking, but in this case it’s referring to petroleum-derived chemicals that are created in a lab or with technology. These are chemicals that we wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to.

I do all this using my oils and organic things like coconut oil. I have no chemicals in my house, nor for my clothing or cleaning, and no more meds. It feels so good!!!
