Do you have a Freezer Inventory sheet?
Keep in mind, there is nothing special about this, it's just a document with “Freezer Inventory Sheet” at the top, a line for the date, then a bunch of blank lines to write in what you are stocked up on in your freezer. Easy!
WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT A FREEZER INVENTORY SHEET?
A detailed list of what's in my freezer prevents me from standing with the freezer open wasting energy, not to mention being cold, while I try to figure out what to pull out for dinner. If I don't have an idea of what to make from our Family Favorite Meals List, then I can just look on this sheet and get ideas that way.
It is also nice for when you have a really full freezer, you don't have to dig through everything to see what you still have and what you're short on (especially if you have an upright freezer like we do, it saves your toes from big hunks of falling meat), and you can easily see what you need next at the store.
The only problem is when I don't keep up on it by marking something off right when I pull it out. I forget sometimes, so every once in a while I'll have to pull everything out and re-do it, ugh.
This can save you at least a little time and frustration in the kitchen!
Note: my freezer inventory sheet has categories listed (beef, chicken, pork, veggies, frozen made-ahead meals, etc.) under which freezer they're in, but you can make it specific to your freezer and what you have on hand.

I just found you via CHEESESLAVE. I’ve been drooling over her recipes. If I were single or without kids that’s the way I’d cook. But…well, you know. ;o)
Love your site and can’t wait to learn simpler ways to do this. I’m new to WAPF. I’ve actually just finished reading Cure Tooth Decay and am getting ready to go all out with the protocol. My dentist says I’ve got 10 grand in work to get done…ouch! I’m determined to reverse as much as I can.
I actually have a deep pantry and deep freeze going. I am horrible at remembering what’s in there. I found a cool app called Prep & Pantry that has been awesome. Now, it takes a bit to get started because you have that initial inventory to do but in the long run, it seems to really be a time saver.
Thanks again…now I’ve got more reading to do!

How recently have you used the Prep and Pantry app? It costs $8 and has bad reviews. Is that the one you use?
Thanks

Do you have a Food inventory Sheet, that you could list all the food that you have in your food storage?

The only time I’m really good about filling my freezer is when I’m about to have a baby, and then I go all out. But you’re absolutely right that keeping an inventory makes it so much easier to remember what you have and to make sure you’re pulling it out in a timely manner!
Great tip!
