Maybe you've read through all the Rookie Tips, but you're still feeling overwhelmed. If so, here's my simple advice:
Think of the ONE thing your family eats the most of, and find a healthier version.
That's how I started years ago. We ate a lot of peanut butter, so that was the first thing we switched. Only back then, the organic PB wasn't as yummy and easy to stir as it is today. It was thick and had a bunch of oil sitting on top and it didn't taste that great, either. To get the kids to go for it, I had to start by mixing it half and half with the “bad” PB and keeping it all mixed together in the bad PB jar to fool them. I did this for a long time (months) to get them, and me, used to the new taste and textures. Lucky for all of you who are just beginning to eat healthier these days, now the organic peanut butter is SO good, it looks and stirs the same as the junk that still has trans fats.
Hang in there!
Keep trying to do your best at feeding your family healthier. Take baby steps. Every little bit helps. Read the other Rookie Tips. And as always, feel free to comment or e-mail me if I can help you somehow.

Hi Holly,
That’s a great point, and one that I hope people get: just start with what doesn’t overwhelm you, with that one thing that makes you say to yourself, “I could do that…” If you keep doing this, over time you’ll look back and see all the healthy baby steps you’ve taken!

I am starting to change by changing the things that are easiest for me to change! (Do you think I can fit the word “change” in there a couple more times?!)
As I am switching to the healthier alternatives, if it is easy for me to switch to another product, I do it. When I switched milk from lofat to whole I ramped up slowly and made my own 3% milk and still had to listen to complaints! I finally figured if they are hungry/thirsty they will deal with the new products.
If it is hard for me, I just won’t stick with it, so easy is the key to my success!
