The Rookie Tip this week is very simple: just watch these entertaining short movies I came across (recommended to me by Consciouswoman) and become more aware and informed about what is behind much of the food you purchase. That’s it. Then just let me know what you think by commenting below.

Great little movies!! We all need to WAKE UP and see the truth behind where our food comes from !! Other than producing CHEAP food and HUGE profits for the huge corporations that own these mega-farms, there is absolutely no reason for animals (or plants) to be raised this way! It’s bad for us, really bad for the planet, and unspeakably cruel to the poor animals. Thanks for the awesome site Kel !!

This absolutely disgusts and nausteates me. I can’t believe I’ve been a partaker of so many of these kinds of meats just because they are inexpensive. What I would like to know, though–how does one with lots of kids budget for eating the proper way?

Hi Katrina,
Have you seen my post, “Eating healthy on a budget”? (Along the right in the blue section, click on “budget/money”.) It CAN be overwhelming trying to feed your family healthier. I hope that post helps you, at least a little.
Other readers, do you have any more ideas for Katrina???

The cartoons are cute and informative; however, I do not like the fact that the meatrix supports meatless Mondays, as Americans, especially children, need more healthy animal fat and protein – but not from factory animals! Meatless Mondays have been implemented in several school districts and I do not think that is a good idea. They substitute the meat with awful stuff like Tofu, or nutritionless carbs.

That’s terrible! I hadn’t heard that. “Meatless Monday” wouldn’t be bad if they substituted with nutritious foods!
