Homemade Velveeta, 10 Things Healthy People Do, Win $100, *One* Question, and More in Today’s Mix-Up 12/15/2014

Good morning friends!  Today's Monday post has a couple of things that are different than normal…

First of all, our dear friend Eva turns 100 this week.  I've known her since I was a little girl and she's the sweet neighbor lady my Mom took care of for years.

So to celebrate, I'm giving away a $100 Amazon gift card.  🙂

Just TWO simple things will get you entered:

  1.  Click this link to visit Amazon.com and look around.  (You must click the link for a valid entry.)
  2. Comment below to tell me what you'd buy if you win.

That's it!  I'll pick the winner using Random.org on Friday at noon Eastern time, and announce the winner on Eva's 100th birthday: Saturday, 12/20/2014.

Second, if you're a regular Monday Mix-up reader, I'm hoping you'll take a mini-survey and answer one question for me:

Here's the scoop…  These Monday posts take a lot of time to pull all the different links and interesting tid-bits together, and I thought most of you enjoyed the randomness of it and the way I included all different topics — my thinking was that one subject may grab one person, but a different one may grab another, and that people can just scroll through to see what is helpful to them while they drink their morning coffee.  Lately, however, I've gotten complaints and unsubscribes with comments like, “All the links confuse me”, and “There's just too much going on”.  Geesh, so much for all the helpful links!

Will you tell me what do YOU think?

Is it too much or overwhelming?  Do I need to scale it back somehow?  If most of you are good with it, I'll chock those few comments up to, “You can't please everyone”, but I'd like to hear from you, my regular Monday readers.  Just comment below or email me:  [email protected].  I may not be able to reply to everyone, but I'll very much appreciate your feedback, THANK YOU!

We decorated our tree this weekend, here's my favorite new ornament:

all things possible

Oh, what I could do with a $100 Amazon gift certificate!!! Two things come to mind – essential oil books so I can learn more about essential oils or a Greenworks 40V cordless snowblower. My husband has a severe heart condition along with other maladies so I do all the shoveling, including pulling the snow from the roof. That snowblower would make my life so much easier!

I pretty much enjoy all your posts, whether it is about a health issue, a recipe, or a fun meme (gosh, love those!). Whatever doesn’t interest me (it happens occasionally), I just don’t click on the link. I love your blog because you believe in what I believe in health and nutrition, and I have recommending your page to others. Readers can take what works for them and leave the rest behind. You shouldn’t stress over pleasing every single reader. You just can’t. Keep up the good work!

I was looking at the plant stands in amazon. I can’t find what I’m looking for in town so if I won I would be interested in one that holds more than 2-3 plants. But I am always needing supplements like great lakes gelatin so probably get some of that as well.
As for your question, I liked the way you had everything on 1 page before. I hate having to click on so many pages to read what you posted & haven’t bothered to read all of it. Still, this is your blog & I think you should do what is easiest for you.

Hey just a little tip to those of you who said you want the Essential Oils for Health Care Professionals book — I bought it and wish I hadn’t, I actually ended up selling it back to Amazon (lost about $12 but at least I got my other $64 or whatever back). It just wasn’t user-friendly at all.

      Hi Jane,

Actually, a few people have mentioned the links being confusing, which is why I’m asking, but I’ve had very few comments/complaints about the ads. I think most people get it that I can’t spend all this time on my site for nothing. For years I tried it without the ads and felt guilty for spending so much time away from my family with little to show for it as far as helping much with bills, etc., so at least this is something. It’s a difficult line to walk and I struggle with it a lot!

        Kel-
I get what Jane is saying and was going to say something similar. In the past couple of months, it has become more difficult to discern the Monday posts because of the ads. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t have them, but it just seems like all of a sudden there are more ads and I believe that is where the confusion comes in with trying to read your posts. There’s a couple of lines of your post, and then an ad with an arrow, then a couple of more lines of your post, and then another ad with an arrow. Visually it is really hard to tell if the ads are part of your post, or if they are ads. Everything just blends together.

Then when you started doing the Monday post in 2 pages, it became even more confusing because I wasn’t sure if I was clicking on your arrow (or link) to a second page or if I was clicking on an ad for life insurance.

it has been more confusing as of late and I can see why some folks may get discouraged. I always muddled through it all because I ALWAYS enjoy Monday Morning Mix up. I have found a lot of good and interesting, across-the-board info out from you through your Monday posts, so please continue with them. Maybe just go back to the format you used to have where everything was on one page and the ads weren’t blended in with your posts. (BTW, I don’t begrudge you the right to have ads because you shouldn’t be sharing so much awesome info with us without getting paid; maybe just figure out someway to get the ads out of your posts and off to the side?) Hugs!
