Here are the best Beautycounter swaps!
(Skip the intro by scrolling down)
If you get my newsletters, you know that recently Beautycounter went under. Hopefully not for forever, but who really knows. It was such a shock and so sad after 5 years of really loving their products and sharing them with all of you. 5 years ago BC was one of a very few companies in the field of clean/safe beauty products that actually worked, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that that is no longer the case. This is because all of us have been voting with our spending dollars to show the industry what we want more of! These days there are a lot of great options, but now the only glitch was that most companies still don't have a lineup as robust as BC had, however I did find two companies that I feel really good about, and between them, I've found the best Beautycounter swaps for you.
(The really good news…) As a matter of fact, they're both even more clean/safe than Beautycounter was!
- Both Crunchi and Pure Haven don't use synthetic colors or phenoxyethanol in their products (BC did, they just tried to find the safest they could), AND they test for heavy metals. Crunchi's doesn't use synthetic colors, so you aren’t going to find the same variety of color cosmetics–however what they do have is great! They also avoid a few other ingredients that aren’t as controversial, such as bismuth oxychloride, which is a 1 on EWG Skin Deep, but is known for causing allergic reactions in some. Also, both companies make more of an effort to use organic ingredients than Beautycounter did. Both companies, like Beautycounter, have a huge list of harmful ingredients that'll never be in their products.
More reasons I love these companies:
- Both are debt free, which makes me feel more comfortable after what we just went through with BC.
- Crunchi is based in FL and all but one product is made in the USA, and both companies stay out of politics, which is what I’d prefer for all companies.
- They're both committed to environmentally friendly packaging.
- Between the two of them, they have all of the products BC sold and more (see the swap list below) so you can keep using something very similar to the BC favorites that you loved.
- Like BC, they both have member programs where you can get extra deals!
- They offer periodic sales and fun specials.
- They both have a good return policy in case you're not happy with something.
- Many of these products, while still safe and effective, are actually less expensive than BC too!

Another reason I was sad when BC shut down was because they had JUST launched their new safe perfumes, so I was so excited to find these and they're less expensive than BC too!
-

Sunscreen:
These toxin-free, EWG-Verified (!) mineral sunscreens are light, non-greasy, hydrating, and leaves almost no white cast on the skin. They're reef-safe and use only non-nano zinc; they are also tested free of gluten and benzene, which is a problematic contaminant in many sunscreens.
