To kick off these new Kitchen Kop giveaways we’ll start with a doozie and I hope you like what I chose…
If you are fortunate enough to own Le Creuset cookware, or you know someone who does, then you already know what a great reputation it has. Even us picky Real Foodies can’t find anything wrong with Le Creuset! But can you believe that I don’t have one piece? It’s because I’m too cheap, quality costs money, as we all know, but only the best for you, reader friends. 
I do, however, have lots of Stainless Steel and cast iron, which I love. The cast iron is not as nice as Le Creuset, and for sure not as gorgeous (if I had a choice, I’d have a kitchen full of the yellow, I love yellow!), but it’s far above any nasty Teflon or other toxic non-stick pans that have looooong been out of my kitchen.
Will food stick to it, though?
One thing about this pan, which is the same as any cast iron pan, is that you can only expect it to behave as well as non-stick pans if you take care of it.
Taking care of cast iron pans
Kent is better about this than I am, so I’ll tell you what he does…
He uses healthy fats liberally (he’s a smart man) and after each use he’ll dry it with a paper towel, and then wipe in a couple drips of olive oil around the whole inside surface.
When I’m cleaning up, however, I scrub it clean with a wet SOS pad, rinse, then dry well with a paper towel and that’s it. I still don’t have trouble with food sticking, but I think it’s because Kent has kept it seasoned well in between my work, AND I also use healthy fats liberally. Remember, healthy fats are good for you!

I own 3 pieces already. My daughter bought me the tea kettle for Christmas last year. Keep your eyes open at TJMaxx and Marshall’s. She got a good deal buying it there. I also own the 5 qt. Dutch oven and a 2 qt sauce pan in the lime green. I use both pieces regularly and still love the color. I’d buy my daughter something if I won the gift card. She will be setting up her own home in the fall.

And to add to the care comment. There is a “peach pit scrubbie” at Isabella’s that is awesome. I can clean out my pan without more than a drop of soap, if any and it keeps the pan in perfect seasoned state.

I would get the 1 1/4 quart pour iron handle saucepan in cobalt blue because I need a saucepan that sits still while I’m stirring and shaking or pouring something in at the same time! My stainless steel pots aren’t heavy enough on my ceramic top stove. I have inherited wonderful old-fashioned skillets, though I wouldn’t mind having a Le Creuset skillet in cobalt!
