Welcome and PLEASE read below before you link up as this is a REAL FOOD carnival, and very different from others you may have joined in on.
I LOVE WEDNESDAYS!
It’s that crazy time of the week when you entice us with your links and comments to go check out your blogs and your great REAL FOOD WEDNESDAY tips and ideas or recipes! (Visit that link if you’re new and want to learn more about this blog carnival.) Remember, if you’re a blogger, you’ll draw some good traffic to your site by participating! (This is how I built up my traffic in the beginning, and don’t miss my tips below.)
CAN YOU HELP? (6 rules and tips!) (Note: here’s where those of you who are new will want to read carefully, thank you!)
1. It’s not easy for me to catch them all on my own, and I’d really like everyone to play fair, so if you see any posts that don’t link back to this post (blog carnival etiquette you know!), can you email me please? Kelly@KellytheKitchenKop.com. If you don’t know how, I explain it at this REAL FOOD WEDNESDAY link. (I hate playing hardball and removing links, so let’s all be good to the others who are bringing more traffic to your blogs with their links by doing the same, OK?)
2. Also, PLEASE let me know if you see a recipe posted that is blatantly not Real Food. Someone who is striving and on the journey is one thing (as we all are), but if it’s really bad (canned bread, meat substitutes, Velveeta, margarine/vegetable oil, Egg Beaters, unfermented soy/tofu or any other fake food), please tell me so I can remove it. (If I’ve removed your post, I hope there are no hard feelings, but people come to this post for Real Food ideas, and I don’t want to disappoint.)
3. I hope you’ll retweet and stumble this post and also any sites you visit – this will get more exposure to all of us, thank you!
4. Please don’t link up to your post where you’re writing about something as an affiliate if I’m already an affiliate for the same thing, OK? That includes giveaway posts. (Thank you for understanding!)
5. Want more traffic at your blog? if you’re linking up and hoping for more traffic to your blog, can I make a suggestion for how to boost your traffic? Besides just adding your link to the Mr. Linky doohicky, if you also comment and include just ONE interesting sentence to grab the readers attention AND a link to that specific post, you’ll get more hits for sure, at least from me anyway. I don’t often have time to go through every single link (although I know a lot of people do), but one thing I always do is read the comments. If there’s a sentence that grabs my interest AND a link to get me there easily, I’m much more apt to visit!
6. Don’t have a blog? We still want to hear from you! Please leave your tips or recipes in the comments.
Thank you!
You’re up, and we can’t wait to see your stuff!

Hi Kelly,
I hope it’s ok that I linked two posts. First, we have something that’s just for laughs… laughing at ourselves, that is! Real Food Ryan Gosling and Gluten Free Ryan Gosling are our new tumblr feeds! He’s so dreamy. Anyone with ideas can send them to me and I’ll try to include them in future pictures (with linkbacks!).
Next, I tried Wardeh’s 5 Spice Lactofermented Apple Chutney, but put my own twist on it. Boy, was it ever a hit around here! I thought you all might enjoy it, too!
Happy Wednesday!
Joy
I posted my recipe for GF, Soaked Granola. One of my favorite treats!

Hi Kelly! My post this week shows what a fat cap is. Today, because of the demonization of saturated fat, many people have never even seen a fat cap. Grassfed fat is nutrient-dense, with nutrients such as omega-3 and CLA.
What Is a Fat Cap? This Is a Fat Cap!
I’m sharing my yummy Chicken Parmesan Meatballs and a post on homemade Chicken Stock with tips, tricks and special ingredients. Thanks for hosting!

Hi Kelly! I have two posts this week: a tutorial on sprouting lentils (and why you may want to start doing it yourself) and a recipe for sprouted lentil soup. Happy eating!
Thanks for hosting Kel!
My post is a bit of a passionate rant in response to those that think ‘real foodies’ are legalistic zealots…………
Today I write about a mid week meal of pot roast and beet salad with oranges. It really wasn’t hard to do and took a week day meal and elevated it to something special. If you give it a try, let me know how it was for you!
Hi Kelly,
Today I’m sharing my journey (thus far) with mood, brain function and diet.
http://voogtrecipes.blogspot.com/2012/02/mood-brain-diet-my-current-status.html
Not getting into the legalistic zealot debate . . . although I will say I felt so bad for that woman who gave the demo on how to cut up a chicken at the Nourishing Traditions meeting when she was booed and hissed at for suggesting that one skim the fat off bone broth before putting it in the freezer
OK so maybe I’m exaggerating . . . but not much.
Anyhoo, I’m linking up a ground beef helper skillet recipe. It’s frugal, fast, with local ingredients. It does include potatoes so that means it’s not GAPS friendly but is gluten-free, yes?
I skim my fat and then I save it in a separate jar. We like to brown onions and garlic in it. Maybe that is what she does?
My post is Waste Not, Want Not and Why I No Longer Avoid Celery.
I added my Coconut Butter Cake with Coconut Frosting. This is a GAPS legal treat that is so moist and delicious you will have SAD eaters asking you for the recipe! (at least I have). It is my go to birthday cake for my children’s parties as well.
Hi Kelly!
I shared a family recipe for a delicious real caesar salad dressing. No junk in it – only real, whole foods

I’m also linking an easy method for converting ANY whole grain yeast bread into a soaked recipe. It’s a great option for those who want to incorporate healthy whole grains into their diet but don’t have a sourdough starter going, or just have a regular yeast bread recipe that they don’t want to give up! http://plusothergoodstuff.blogspot.com/2012/02/adapting-yeast-bread-for-soaking.html

I’ve got winter squash coming out my ears, which is a good thing because they are healthy and delicious. But sometimes its hard to come up with ideas of recipes to use them in. Today I’m linking my post with several different ideas of what to do with winter squash. Enjoy!

We’re reading through Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston A. Price. I’m sharing highlights chapter by chapter on my blog. The reading has been fascinationg (I’ve read it before but not as in-depth). Salmon and Seal oil doesn’t sound too tasty but the low incidence of tooth decay was amazing. Real food for sure! http://realfoodforlessmoney.com/salmon-and-seal-oil/

Hello everyone, anyone interested in a healthy, grain free, refined sugar free dessert that will cure a sweet tooth like nothing else? These are a huge hit and even SAD, conventional junk-food junkies love them. They are Apple Cinna-Mini Muffins and they are delicious! You can check out the recipe at my blog here – http://thenutritiontradition.blogspot.com/2012/02/apple-cinna-mini-muffins.html
I shared my easy go-to roasted chicken recipe. We make it quite often since we are on GAPS and it’s so easy to do a lot at once and have leftovers. I love leftovers…Anyway, my favorite part about it is there’s no prep work, no measuring! I love meals like this! http://lifefoodjourney.blogspot.com/2012/02/my-go-to-roasted-chicken-recipe.html Thanks for hosting!

Thanks for hosting, Kelly. This week I link to my post about two Larabar-type variations that are accidentally vegan and being mistaken for a vegan. How would you respond?
I already have three posts to share this week, wow. I’m a big blogging nerd. First is my final post on the GAPS Challenge. We are already in week four. What?! That went fast.
Secondly I have my latest REAL FOOD 101 post on how to make a basic vinaigrette. Plus, I share my Garlic and Herb version that always makes everyone ask for the recipe and ask how I made such an amazing dressing. The secret? Come find out
And finally, I just put up my latest post for a Berry Custard with Sweet Whipped Cream. It’s so delicious and versatile: perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.
http://www.ournourishingroots.com/berry-custard-with-sweet-cream/
Sorry to complain, but I was looking for things to share on my fan FB and most of the stuff I was running across didn’t fit the bill. There a LOT of links with un-soaked grains, refined sugars, and cooking oils. I know not everybody is at the same place in their real food journey but I cringe when I see someone linking here (and like twenty other places, too) and then talk about their healthy (unsoaked) yeast bread. Sorry, Kel, I know it is not you and you recently crafted a sterner opener for these carnis so it is probably more frustrating for you!
Happy Wednesday,
This week I am sharing a Valentine’s inspired dish (the most beautiful vibrant red color): roasted beet, cabbage and green apple. Simple, healthy and delicious.
Have a great week.
Be Well,
–Amber
Hello hello! I shared my post on frugal and simple real food breakfasts and snacks for college students on the go. Much better than the organic, but nevertheless junk they serve at my college! The ideas are great for anyone, college or not.
-Lorraine
I tried a chicken nugget recipe using our home-grown 4-H broilers. Better than any fast-food place, that’s for sure! I also listed a few other chicken dishes we’ve had with them. [I have some photos of the chickens uploaded from my camera now, but couldn't bear to post pictures of our live chickens on the same post as the chicken nuggets!]
I shared a great soup recipe my Dad taught me growing up. He called it “cleaning out the refrigerator”. It was always so good
Thanks for hosting.
