Yes, it’s only Friday and I normally do these hodge-podge posts on Mondays, but sometimes a girl’s just gotta ramble, you know?

1.  I’m still recovering from last night’s big website glitch.  If I hadn’t had done my own backups, I’d have lost everything since August on all of my sites. I have to take a big breath just thinking about it.  Thank God I had just done a full backup TWO days ago!  I was up ’til 3:00 am working with a sweet guy from Media Temple, getting a couple posts back up that I’d lost (and I also lost all comments from yesterday, but was able to re-post some of them), and restoring a few other things, but it could’ve been so much worse.

2.  Next, a story that really isn’t a big deal in the whole scheme of life, but it’s fun just the same…  Guess what is sitting next to me right now?  My new iPhone 4 that I got FREE!  Here’s what happened.  You know that website glitch story above?  Without getting all whiny, that’s pretty typical with me and electronics.  There’s a major love/hate thing going on.  Anyway, I’ve had my share of iPhone issues, and hence, have become friends with a higher up technical service rep at Apple – you wouldn’t believe how many hours of support she’s given me on the phone, so we’ve gotten to know each other pretty well.  (I’ve even got her hooked on fermented cod liver oil!)  When it became one thing after another (not all Apple’s fault, some of it was due to the unbelievable amount of data in my calendars), she finally said enough and yep, I’ve got an iPhone 4 with a FLASH camera!  Maybe now you’ll see better quality pictures here on the blog… but I doubt it.  And there’s your feel-good story for the weekend.  :)

3.  One last important reminder for those of you who are on the fence:

Monday is the last day to get Jenny’s fermentation class for $149, on Tuesday it will go up to its regular price of $199.

If you haven’t yet, be sure to take a peek at these bonus lessons:

Learn how to make fermented ketchup AND fermented French fries – turning these basic foods that everyone loves into SUPERFOODS full of enzymes and healing nutrients!

* Find out exactly what will be taught in each class and/or sign up here.
* Want to learn more?  Go to Jenny’s site to read the FULL scoop.

Hi Kelly,

I also use the speakerphone, as well. We must not stress over these things too much. After all, we don’t live in caves :)

Kelly, I know this is off subject, but I am in need of some advice. Where I live I have no access to raw milk. I

Hey Erin, are there no health food stores near you that carry slightly pasteurized, non-homogonized whole milk? I’m not able to get raw milk either, but I have found this and feel very lucky to have it.

Erin, I also live in WV. What part of the state are you in? Is it possible to find a farmer across state lines that sells raw milk? I’m up in the northern part and go into PA to get my raw milk. Also, I have found that the gallons of some organic whole milk say “pasteurized”on the label and are not UHT. As for the cream, I am in the same boat. Can’t find any not UHT. I have resorted to skimming off the top of the milk I get from my farmer.

I’ve got a good idea for you: connect with your local Weston A. Price chapter and see what their advice is. Here’s the link to find yours: http://www.westonaprice.org/find-a-local-chapter.html

Obviously that was the first thing that I did. Only one chapter in WV and its allllllll the way across the state near Washington DC. So, no luck there. I don’t live close enough to go across state lines.

I should have probably mentioned that DC is about 6 hours from me.

Tammy, I wish I lived closer to PA, but that would be quite a drive as I live near Charleston. :(

Thanks Linda, but the only health food store around here only carries UHT organic milk and goats milk. I’m going to double check again and mention it to the manager. Perhaps they can order it.

What a bummer!!!!! Hopefully someone else will see this who can help you with more ideas!

Did you say you can’t find reg. pasteurized whipping cream? Sally once said that drinking watered down cream is better than some of the other past. options because the fats in the cream make it less susceptible to heat damage.

Thanks anyway. I’m still going to check with my healthy life market to see if they can order the type of milk that Linda mentioned. (Although, even to get to the healthy life market it is a 25 minute drive from my house!) I love WV, but the food options here are atrocious!

I was going to suggest you ask if they can order it. Do you know other people who are looking for better options? If the manager of the health food store knows there are more people wanting it I think they would be more inclined to try to get it. Good luck.

I am very interested in your answer to the previous commenter!

I’d also like to know how to back up your blog.

Backing up is a huge pain. It’s a big long process I go through using the “terminal” on my Mac to zip files and copy and drag with FTP onto my local computer. If that sounds confusing, I’m sorry, but I had someone help me get it all set up. Even if your website host backs up, you can’t trust that because if they have a glitch you could be wiped out. I’m so thankful I had my own backups!

Apple customer support people are AWESOME.
One of my people out in California does such a job, and she’s completely awesome, hence my conclusion. :)
