Good morning reader friends. Today I get to tell you what my new favorite pastime is, not that I get to play it a lot, but it is SO STINKIN' FUN. And yes, now you'll see that I am even more odd than you originally thought…
The other day Kasey, our 8 year old who loves to check out neighborhood garage sales, came in the door almost hyperventilating. “MOM! They have a… It's a, it's a GUITAR… And DRUMS!” I was also hyperventilating now, “ARE THEY SELLING THEIR ROCK BAND?!” We used to have neighborhood Rock Band parties over at these neighbor friends' house, and I've wanted Rock Band for EVER. They were selling the complete set WITH an extra guitar AND an extra drum set for only $30!!!!!! I couldn't get our check over there fast enough. Keep in mind I'm not one of those people who finds great deals every time they turn around (somehow I always pay top dollar for everything), so I was in my HAPPY PLACE! The poor neighbors, though. One night I didn't know that the window was open in the room where we were playing and I was belting out “That's the Power of Love!” by Huey Lewis, in my loudest and most pathetic singing voice. It was a little scary. Some of the songs have rotten lyrics, so I have to really watch it with the kids, but soon we're going to try to download some Toby Mac songs, now THOSE will be a BLAST! So now when it's time to gather the kids to play, we'll all yell, “It's time to ROCK!” in our best ‘rocker' voices. Kent's not into it so he just rolls his eyes. What a pooper, huh?! So do you think I used enough caps in that paragraph? If I was telling you the story in person, I really would be shouting at all those parts, so I'm leaving them in. 🙂
At this post from my archives you can read about other silly things that make this crazy girl happy. Kent shared his, too, and I'd love to hear yours in the comments: What Small Insignificant Thing Brings You Great Joy?
Here's what I found for you today:
- My reader friends are awesome and you all crack me up. Diane sent me this after my recent homeschooling post where I shared some frustrations:
We are watching The Goodbye Girl on video tape, so I looked up Quinn Cummings and here was her ‘personal quote' that reminded me of you: [On attending a meeting of other homeschooling parents]: I couldn't figure out how to swing the conversation around to, ‘So, do you stop having panic attacks after the first year, or do you just drink in the daytime?'
- If you're not signed up for my daily or monthly posts, you may have missed my blog highlights over the weekend, I hope you will sign up in the orange box up at the top or over in the sidebar, but either way, you can check out the latest blog highlights here: I have skin cancer, bad breath remedies, when *should* you just take the drugs?, vaccination dangers, and more.
- Did you catch this super controversial post by Sarah the other day? As Antibiotic Failure Grows, Poop Pills Are Filling the Void. It sure it crazy to think about but it is having miraculous results! Don't close your mind to it, that's all I'm asking.
- My friend, Rich, sent this shocker to me a while back and I just found it in my box: Swat Team Raids Organic Farm and Holds Residents at Gunpoint.
“I think the reason the Gestapo raided this place was summed up well by the property owner in a statement she released: “We have been targeted by the system because we are showing people how to live without it.” The government has to feel needed. When they feel their grip of control fade even the slightest bit, they must remind the people who is really in control. To a power-hungry government, independence is terrorism.”
- You know those annoying ads that pop up on videos online and you can skip them after a few seconds? Well this came up the other day and not only did I NOT skip it, I sat there belly laughing. Have you seen this one?
So of course I had to see if it was for real, and it IS. Check out Poo-pourri, and the reviews there are hilarious, too!
- Don't miss my “Way Back Weekend' post that I put up on Saturday called, “The Real Food Rookie Version of Dave Ramsey’s Money Principles {Way Back Weekend}.
- Don't these look good? Peanut Butter Swirl brownies from Our Nourishing Roots.
- Lastly, I thought you'd appreciate this from my Facebook page last week:
Have a great week!
