“Watching the health impacts of genetically modified foods discussed on national TV this week was a rare event. In fact, the Dr. Oz Show, which aired on Genetically Modified Foods December 7th 2010, marks the first time any major entertainment show has covered the health dangers of Genetically Modified Foods in the United States. Kudos to Dr. Oz and his producers for taking on this important subject. Let’s hope it’s the first of many network shows to also inform consumers about the dangers of GMOs and how to make healthier non-GMO choices.”

Dr. Oz gets it!
Jeffrey Smith did a great job socking it to the woman who was “for” GMO foods. She went on and on about listening to “science” and “the best medical advice available”, as IF science can’t be manipulated and as IF only doctors and scientists have all the right answers. I’m not saying that I think you should flat out ignore what doctors and scientists say, but FIRST you must gather information from many different viewpoints and then use common sense! Dr. Oz has driven me crazy at times in the past but on this issue you could tell he gets it, so it was refreshing to actually agree with the host.
Let me know what you think about the show after watching these videos…

Loved it! Just curious though–I rarely watch his show, and when I have watched it, it’s been pretty good. What is it that gets everyone’s blood boiling when they watch him?

Sometimes he’s still too “politically correct” for me, mostly when it comes to saturated fats if I remember right…

I totally agree with you, Kelly. I’ve had to turn off the show, because it wasn’t worth my blood pressure skyrocketing! However, it’s great to hear about his concurring on something we all blog about. Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the links as I missed the show.
Is Monsanto paying her salary? Monsanto is about money – they DO NOT care about our health, they just want to control all the seed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were in cahots with big pharma – make us sick and the pharmacy companys make the big bucks!
I try to avoid GMO, but it’s in so much now it’s becoming more difficult.

🙂 Thankyou

Interesting. Man, she really knows how to spout the company line, doesn’t she? Sure, she’d “like to see labeling on pesticide, land and water usage” until she sees that GMO crops use MORE pesticide due to pesticide resistance.
This is a huge issue, way more information is out there than Smith was permitted to voice in his 1 minute 30 seconds of air time. I’m so glad it got out there though, I know Dr. Oz has a huge audience and I hope this gets them thinking, and more importantly, ACTING!

I watched the show when it was on and I thought it was good!!

Wow, thanks for posting this! I don’t have TV so actually miss some — gasp — good shows! Lately, I’ve been talking with a couple of people on the topic of GMOs. It comes up now in relation to S510. A lot of people are so uneducated on the topic and trusting that the FDA would be a good watchdog for things that were bad for us. Someone quoted the WHO as an authority on the safety of GMOs. Looking forward to watching this and sharing on FB!
