Wow, you guys have just got to get to one of these conferences if you haven't been able to yet, it's that whole ‘feeling like you belong' thing that's so cool. When you've been involved in the Real Food movement for years and mostly feel like the freak whenever the topic of food comes up in your real life, this place is a slice of heaven!
I'm going to share a couple things with you today about my Dallas weekend so far…
1. Take a look at my tweets so you can learn some good scoop from all the speaker soundbites. Since I couldn't be in two places at once, many of them are retweets from other tweeters.
2. I've uploaded a video from a short talk by Sally Fallon Morell Thursday evening at the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fundraiser, which was a huge success and tons of fun.
Today is the Chapter Leader's meeting and then it's over. So sad! But some special friends have already got some BIG exciting plans to make next year in Santa Clara, California even MORE exciting. That's still top secret, though. 🙂 For now I'll head home this afternoon to hug my hubs and my kids!
If you were here this weekend, tell us your favorite part! 🙂
Now a couple more random links you might want to take a look at:
- Did you see last week's post about the new movie on Vaccine safety? Well this will really get you going… Panel endorses anthrax vaccine test on children. “A key panel of government advisers Friday recommended that the federal government sponsor a controversial study to test the anthrax vaccine in children to see whether the inoculation would protect young Americans against a bioterrorist's attack.” (Thank you Angie for sending me a link to the article.)
- You might find this interesting: 25 most valuable brands in the world. Some of these companies I hadn't even heard of, some of them I love (Apple for one) and others I can't stand — see if you can guess which those are…

I’m DEFINITELY going next year if it’s in Santa Clara! That’s just a four-hour drive from here.

Me, too!!! I would be totally jealous of all who got to go this year, except that I had a 3-day weekend at home on the farm and enjoyed the time spent with David, the three dogs, five cats, 35 chickens and 7 goats.

Hi Kelly,
I was so happy to meet you at the conference. It took we a little while to realize that you were Kelly the Kitchen Kop. The conference was fabulous: the sessions, the interactions and the food!
KitchenKop says
Great to meet you, too! So do I need to update my profile photo or what? 🙂
Kristi says
I got to go to the exhibits on Sat. and met a few of the wonderful people I’ve been reading from. But you were the one person I wanted to meet! LOL I got pics of a few people. I felt like a weird blogger fan or something. It was too funny. I’m so glad I got to go (I live near Dallas) and sample things like every flavor of FCLO and liverwurst. It was a blast!
KitchenKop says
Awww, how sweet! 🙂
I felt the same way as I was having drinks with the McAfees or chatting it up with Michael Schmidt and Peter McBride! 🙂

Hi Kelly,
It was so great to meet you at the conference! And thanks for hooking my iphone up to tweeter! My goal is to really learn how to use twitter and facebook this year! Wasn’t it awesome?
KitchenKop says
Yes it was awesome and it was great meeting you, too, you did so well on the bloggers panel!!! 🙂

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for all the tweets – it was so cool getting highlights from all the sessions on twitter! I can’t wait for the conference cd’s to catch up.
I hope to make it to the conference next year- since I went last year I really knew what I was missing. Hopefully we will get to hang out next year!
KitchenKop says
Yes, I hope so too Lisa!

Soli @ I Believe In Butter says
Oh deities I hope I manage to move out to the Bay area before the conference because then I could definitely go!
KitchenKop says
That would be awesome!
Betsy says
I looked for you! Really, I did, all the time. I did get to meet Ann Marie briefly. Maybe next year if I go. Starting to save my pennies already.
Favorite part?? Who can choose! The food, the people, the speakers, everything.
Least favorite part – having to check my bag on the flight home because I bought a kraut pounder, lol.
Kelly the Kitchen Kop says
Oh I’m so sad we couldn’t meet, you shoulda tweeted me to pick a spot to meet!!
Too funny about your purchase! I’m packing next & not quite sure how this is going to work, I bought a lot of stuff plus Peggy @SproutedFlour gave me some sprouted oats! 🙂
@Heather, great that you can come next year, there’s just nothing like it. Last night I got to meet a superstar: Michael Schmidt & then later hung out w/ more: Mark McAfee & his cool wife Blaine. Today at the chapter leader meeting I’ll be with Sally… Where else could you have this much fun?!
Betsy says
OMG, I’m an idiot! Tweeting never occurred to me. I have an account, but rarely use it. I’ll have to file that away for future reference.
Heather says
It’s in Santa Clara next year? Really!!!? OOoo, I might even be able to do that–that’s only the next town. No hotel–and I won’t have a small baby next year!
