We haven’t heard much from Nina Planck recently, but I still love this gal and her common sense and easy-to-understand take on real food. I came upon this video and didn’t plan on watching the whole thing, but was pulled in by her simple explanations.
Here’s a good example: ”Traditional foods work together, so in an egg for example, the complete nutritional package is the yolk AND the white, not one or the other. The same is true of milk, which is a highly complex food. You require for example, the saturated fats in particular in milk to absorb the calcium, so it’s no good for your bones to drink skim milk.”
Now if you’ve been reading my blog or other real food blogs for a while now, you probably already knew that, but isn’t it a nice simple explanation to use the next time someone you love proudly tells you they had an egg-white omelet and some skim milk for breakfast?
So in the video below, if you’ve been a real foodie for a while you may not learn anything new, but you will learn simpler ways to explain these concepts to those you know who are still not convinced. Don’t look over your shoulder, don’t ask your mother what to eat, don’t ask the USDA, don’t ask the guy next to you. Learn how to eat for yourself and you’ll be liberated.”
