Hello readers! Here are a few interesting links from other bloggers recently that I know you’ll love if you haven’t seen them already…
- First up, Jo-Lynne’s best ever gluten-free banana bread – here’s what she says about it: “You have NO idea how excited I was to make this gluten free banana bread. To this point, I have not found any gluten free bread recipes that remotely resemble the regular kind. I had pretty much resolved that gluten free breads will never taste like what I’m used to, and that’s okay. But this banana bread proved me wrong.”
- This post from Ann Marie, Are you suffering from Magnesium deficiency? is what led me to get the The Magnesium Miracle book. Turns out that Magnesium is the missing link for many with unexplained symptoms! (After reading it I had to email about five different friends or family to tell them that I’ve found the answers they’ve been looking for…)
- Next, don’t these white cheddar and chive grain-free crackers from Kendahl sound delicious?? I know my kids will love them because I so rarely buy crackers anymore.
Here’s one more homemade cracker recipe, this one from Jenny, because I like comparing and combining recipes sometimes, don’t you? (Jenny’s is pictured at right, but you probably already knew that because it’s so gorgeous. How can she do that, with a cracker?)- I can’t wait to find out if you’ve heard of this one before, because I hadn’t! Bacon wrapped apples. Sounds good, though, doesn’t it?

Thanks for the shout out! And I really want to try making homemade crackers now.
Can you all help clarify something? In the 2nd recipe for crackers I noticed that they have you add salt before the soaking. I was under the impression that if you added salt or yeast to flour before soaking that the phytic acid break down would be stopped. I was wondering this yesterday as well, since the whole wheat sandwich bread hade you add yeast and salt, I believe, before soaking.
Hoping someone could clarify this – I want to make sure we are really breaking down here! LOL
I am ready to try making some crackers, since living wthout for a couple of years.
THanks to all
Kris
I’d always heard the same thing about the salt. You could comment at Jenny’s post and ask her there (let us know what she says please!), OR just mix the salt in with the butter in the step after soaking.

Bacon apples DOES sound good! Kelly, I so regret not meeting you at the conference! It was my first time. I saw you from a far a couple of times. I think you and my mom would have a lot in common! She came to the conference with me too. We had a great time and are already looking forward to next year!1
Track me down for sure next year, yell from across the room if you have to!
