Welcome to this week’s Real Food Wednesday!
If you’re new, be sure to read what Real Food Wednesday is all about before you add your link. Anything vegan or low fat most likely will not be a good fit for this carnival. One more thing: please don’t add 15 links from your blog archives. One post from each person is usually the norm.
Remember your “blog carnival etiquette” and always put a link in your post back to this one. Thank you!
We hate to play hardball, but Ann Marie & I may delete links that do not follow these guidelines or else the carnival could get annoying for everyone involved.
OUR NEW POSTS TODAY:
- Check out what Ann Marie/Cheeseslave has for us on this Real Food Wednesday, it’s sure to be good. (Hopefully it will be her sourdough success story she promised soon, if not, be sure to subscribe to her site so you don’t miss anything juicy…like me whining that she got it right and I’m still pooping with my starter…)
- UPDATE: Ann Marie’s post is How to Cure Tooth Decay with Rami Nagel – listen to her first podcast (how exciting!), plus read tons more info in her post!
- My new post today: GMOs & BAD Customer Service

I used to spend a lot of time looking at mayonnaise labels, trying to decide which one was the least evil. Now, I just make mayo at home, using a yolk from a pastured egg and whatever nutritious fat I have on hand. Bacon grease makes the most delicous mayo ever! BLT, anyone?
Since it’s that time of year, and as the ingredients on the box haven’t changed since l last visited the subject a couple of years ago, I felt it time to remind people how bad those Girl Scout cookies are…
My post is about GMO’s in pasture raised meat. It is a depressing subject but something I thought was of utmost importance to this audience.
Grapefruit is in season now. Here are 4 interesting ways to enjoy it this winter.
I was having trouble getting the recommended dose of coconut oil for weight loss until I discovered a way to eat it raw and enjoy it. My secret ingredient? Why, butter, of course!
Kelly, I will leave it up to your decision to add a post to the carnival, but I have launched my own traditional foods blog, I Believe in Butter. There is not too much on the site yet, but I am going to be spending this year building both the blog and further what I do with my food.
February is “Love Your Lymph” month at the Cellulite Investigation! In my interview with Dr. Cowan, he talks about the link between diet and lymphatic health, including the #1 food to avoid to keep that lymph flowing freely.
Hi, Kelly,
I’m late getting my post up. I had to get up at 3 am to get it done! Toddlers don’t like their mommys on computers at night.
This is my first ever podcast with Rami Nagel on How to Cure Tooth Decay. He shared a ton of extremely useful and interesting information with me after the radio show, all about anti-nutrients (some will surprise you) which I included in my post.
I’m a coconut convert! My post is about how consuming coconut can be good for your heart. I include a recipe for delicious coconut bark that I found on GNOWFGLINS.com. Yum.
I see many of us are talking about good fats this week! What I’m sharing is a video where I show off my new butter keeper – it keeps butter soft at room temperature without spoiling.
Fun to see that Ellen is using the coconut bark recipe – it is really, really yummy! (And good for you, too.) Thanks, Ellen.
Ann Marie – I just ordered his book yesterday.
My post today is a response to an article on Health that I read in Martha Stewart Living. I’m just getting started blogging, please come visit and say hi!
Hi Kelly – whoops, I realized I forgot to put this comment in after I posted my link. I decided it would be fun to write about what’s in my kitchen as far as food and equipment I use. So I’m contributing my “Kitchen Staples” posts. Lots of great posts on here today! Happy Wednesday!
Bonjour!
I’m feeling all Frenchy today, so we’re doing a delicieux omelet that uses a gorgeous little winter gem…enjoy!

Thanks Kelly for hosting this week!! Onward Garden Soldiers! Today I’m talking about the differences between Heirloom, Hybrid, GMO and Organic Seeds! Post 2 in my gardening series
Great minds must think alike! My post is also on GMOs, with some side info on Monsanto, let’s spread the message!
This week I wrote about the versatility of pancakes. I love this simple breakfast food and have found a variety of ways to modify a simple recipe in order to produce some really delicious results!
Today I wrote about an old favorite, Applesauce Buckwheat pancakes. You can even soak the flour before cooking!

I added my post of one of my favorite soups – chicken miso. It is full of real food and includes fresh kale which is in season in many areas right now.
My post this morning was about a natural cat litter (and the danger of regular cat litter) and since I wouldn’t recommend eating cat litter even if it is natural I had to fall back on the post I shared on Fight Back Friday – My Date with Mr. Hot Toddy – the age old natural cold fighting remedy with lemon, honey and bourbon. Enjoy!
Teff!! Its perfect for those eating gluten free!

Sorry so late! My post today is about finding real food when you’re on the go, particularly traveling or in shopping malls…what to do?
I’ll be joining in on this next week. I just discovered this “meme” and am thrilled. It’s right up my alley. I tell you, I’ve been on such a journey over the past few years with food and nutrition. And have come SO far. I’ve read Michael Pollan’s books (among others), read great blogs and so forth. I saw Oprah today and my fire was re-lit. Watched Food Inc with my husband tonight and now we’re both finally on the same page. I’m all kinds of determined and fired up, to not only feed my family the best I can… but to change the way food is made by voting with my food dollar. I’m beyond excited to have found your blog recently and thank you for what you do.
Nell
I’ve also just discovered this carnival but have posted two foodie posts this week, so have added a link to my Tuesday post that has a recipe for Drunken Crumble. Today I posted a recipe for Cock a Leekie soup
Really enjoyed #35 on phytic acid it answered a lot of questions I had, and I absolutely love #17’s veggie boulion thanks for sharing!
