Good morning, reader friends.
Does that drive anyone nuts when I call you that? Our friends call us “Little House on the Prairie” because I sometimes call Kent, “Husband”, and my siblings, “Brother” or “Sister”. I doubt you care, but it started when these cute little girls that I babysat for in high school called each other “Sister”, and my sisters and I started doing it as a joke. You know how jokes take hold, and then after ten or twenty years, it’s stuck.
Now that you’re bored beyond belief with my rambling, check out what I have for you today…
My other new Monday posts: Find out why I’ve taken my Google Ads down – and read some bare-bones honesty about my blog. Also, read about the important issue up for vote in Ohio tomorrow! PLEASE forward that post to anyone you know who lives there.- Have you signed up yet for the $100 giveaway from U.S. Wellness Meats? Even if you don’t win, did you read about the screaming deal I found?!
- Did you notice my new logo? What do you think?
- I’ll be announcing the winner from last week’s Urban Homemaker giveaway on Wednesday! (Read more there about the issue of chlorine in shower/tub water.)
- Meet one of my favorite food bloggers, Ren. Thanks, Kimi, for the fun interview!
- Read a good article: Sacred Foods are Safe Foods from Hartke is Online. Another one from Kimberly: Yummy Details about Wise Traditions - it describes the food that will be served at the upcoming conference, stats on how people found out about it, and how to get free exhibit hall passes. Also, you can read the conference press release for more info.
- If any of you are coming to the conference, please look for the Real Food Media bloggers at our table! Ann Marie/Cheeseslave will be there of course (she’s the Real Food Media blog network founder), and I finally get to meet Jenny from Nourished Kitchen, Kimi from The Nourishing Gourmet, and Kimberly from Hartke is Online. I can’t wait! Sadly, Kristen from Food Renegade can’t make it, and neither can Shannon from Nourishing Days or Carrie from Organic & Thrifty. We’ll have to catch them next year. If you can’t make it, we’ll all be doing lots of tweeting and live blogging. Fun!
- Lastly, don’t forget that Real Food Wednesday is hosted by Cheeseslave this week. See you there…
Readers are always asking me where to buy the products I use and recommend, and this new page makes it easy.

Hi Kelly. If your new logo is to the left of the post title, it’s not showing up for me. It’s one of those boxes with a red “x” in the upper left corner, and I see ” <img title = "
I hope to see it soon!
KitchenKop 11.02.09 at 12:58 am
Hmmmm, what in the world…it shows up for some and not for others. Are you in Internet Explorer? I wonder if that matters…? Someone, help!
Brooke Denison 11.02.09 at 12:17 am
No logo for me either — I’m using IE
Jen 11.02.09 at 12:19 am
I am in Internet Explorer, but I just tried in Firefox. I can’t see it there either. I wish I could help!!!
KitchenKop 11.02.09 at 12:34 am
I’ve emailed a couple people, hopefully they can help! Now my Twitter widget is out, too, grrrrrrrrrr. Oh wait, it’s back! I can’t keep up.

Betsy 11.02.09 at 5:48 am
I see it, too. I’m using Gruml, a Mac app for reading Google Reader blogs. Cute logo!

I love the new logo.
Good for you for standing firm on your convictions. That is certainly to be admired.

Kelly,
What a great bunch of posts today! Can’t wait to read the other two.
I love your new logo! So cute!
My guess (total guess — but worth a try) is the readers who cannot see the logo are using PCs. The name of the file is Kelly KK_logo 2_SM(2).jpg
Sometimes PCs don’t like it when you have spaces and funky characters in your filename. Plus your file name is really long — that might be it, too. Not sure why you can see it on your PC but maybe some people are using older operating systems?
Try shortening the filename to klogo.jpg and see if that fixes it.

Can’t see logo
using firefox on a PC.

By the way, I LOVE “reader-friends”!
Wardeh @ GNOWFGLINS 11.02.09 at 8:54 am
Love the logo, Kelly! I noticed it right away. I can see it – I’m on Mac.
Have a great time at the conference! Please write lots to fill us in – those who can’t be there.
Kudos for letting go of Google – I pray the Lord blesses your decision.

Using Foxfire and see it with no problems. It was the first thing I noticed when I got to your site. Nice logo! Not that you needed any authority, but now with a badge – you got it!

I am so excited about the conference, I can hardly stand it! Thanks for all the links! I’ll be sure to look for you food-bloggers, and am looking forward to meeting you : ).
p.s. – Thank you, WAPF for coming to the midwest!!

Wardeh, you have no idea how much I appreciate those prayers!
Everyone, I tried what Ann Marie suggested (thanks girly!) – will those of you who couldn’t see it try looking again and letting me know? THANKS!
Jen, yay, can’t wait to meet you, too!
David, I don’t know about having “authority”, but it goes with the “Kop” theme anyway.

Hi Kelly, I can see it of course I have a mac and am on Firefox. I just prayed that God blesses your decision to keep out Google ads. Not that they convince me one way or the other but they can be annoying. You did a very good job of keeping out the junk though. Loved the little story.
Yours Truly,
Reader Friend

Love the new logo too! Do you happen to know if CD’s of the talks will be available for purchase after the conference? I would love to go but just can’t swing it this year. I’m kicking myself for not taking advantage of the conference when it was in the DC area.
KitchenKop 11.02.09 at 9:58 am
DeAnn, yes, they always have CD’s available after!
Bonnie 11.02.09 at 11:32 am
The twitter widget problem may be the widget itself–that one has been giving me fits on appearing and not appearing.
I didn’t see your logo when you posted this last night but I see it now (after seeing your request to check it out on facebook)
Soli 11.02.09 at 12:42 pm
Oh, I see it now! I should try looking when I am more awake.
Very awesome.
elaine 11.02.09 at 5:31 pm
Oh, I love it when you call me “Friend”!!
I have read yours and AnnMarie’s posts for the day. Wow – was God every speaking to you guys, or what??
I applaud your decision to take the Google ads off … like other people have said here in the Comments section, it is weird to be on a Real Food site and have ads that are directly in opposition to your message popping up.
You (and AM and many others) are doing such a good thing. Like the Word says, “Don’t grow weary in well doing, for in due season and at the appointed time you WILL reap … if you do not faint and grow weary. (Gal 3 somthing). You do your part and trust God to do His. He will NOT fail you.
