I’ve seen the Meatrix, so I’m understandably afraid to watch the others! But at least now I’m buying raw milk, pastured eggs, and we just ordered 1/3 of a grass-fed cow. I’m looking forward to that!

We still have a long way to go, though. The kids think I’m nuts.

I loved Supersize Me, but didn’t know they’d finally come out with a PG version. I want the kids to watch that. I’ve seen King Corn (available on Netflix and Netflix streaming) and wrote a post about it. I’ve seen the Meatrix movies and made them required viewing for my teens. I’m still trying to find the rest of your list. I’m so thankful that documentarians are on board and that Michael Pollan is so articulate!

This is no documentary, but a lovely foodies film made back in 1986-a danish film called “Babette’s Feast”. It’s a delight and if you need a break from this harsh, coarse, critical world, see this film.

Hey, thanks a lot for that True Blood ad, gross!
You have overlooked a great DVD, the informative (featuring Mary Enig and Sally Fallon) and hilarious FATHEAD by the former comedian and health writer, Tom Naughton. Available through KDL here in West MI. While it does take some well deserved shots at the “stretches” in Super-size Me, it hits a home run on WAPFish, low-carb way to weight loss and the true cause of atherosclerosis. Thumbs up! Check it out!

I agree with the recommendation for Fathead. It will also help answer the question that was raised a short while ago….. “What’s wrong with breakfast cereal?”. The morning after we watched Fathead, my husband came into the kitchen and said, “In light of what we watched last night, I think we’d better have eggs for breakfast.”
Sally Fallon and Mary Enig are in this movie.

i also found King Corn really interesting and eye-opening.

I’m still wanting to see Fresh, but without a local screening, I’m not sure how that will happen. :(

“The World According to Monsanto” is supposed to be great (and depressing) as well.

The World According to Monsanto is intense and I recommend it highly. I certainly felt anger, frustration, and a little depression; but then, I felt an urgency to change things (even if just on a personal choices level).

On a lighter note, there is a wonderful short called Fridays At The Farm. It’s a visual/personal essay by a father musing on family, food, and community. It’s a beautiful uplifting, peaceful piece.

You can see The World According to Monsanto at the Millions Against Monsanto website (google: millions against monsanto). It’s unbelievable!

Thanks everyone for letting me know about the good ones I missed. I actually have Fathead on my list to rent or buy, can’t believe I forgot it.

Sara, join the club!!! :)

Julie, thanks for that tip, I added that movie to my list for summer movies to watch.

Lucy, what blood ad are you talking about??? If you saw something gross or inappropriate in the Google ads on my site, PLEASE make note of the exact link and email me and I can block it out. I hope that someday I won’t need these Google ads on here at all!

I don’t see ads on this site, or many others. We have a scripts blocker (I think it’s noscripts.com) to prevent Spyware from getting into our computer. It has some downsides, but the advantage is that it blocks ads most of the time! I didn’t even know they were missing—-although there is a fair amount of white-space on some blogs!

I don’t have spyware problems, and I understand why you do it, but it does hurt us bloggers who spend hours working on our blogs and our measly ad dollars are all we get for it!

Hi, I recently saw the preview (trailer) for The Greenhorns. It looks really inspriring along with the rest you have on your list. I have been eagerly trying to get copies of them as here in Australia we are unlikely to see them! :)

I’m jealous because I’m deaf and not able to understand these films. Do you know if any are captioned or have transcripts for me to read?

H Sheree, Food Matters has captions.

Vin, thanks for the help… Sheree, hopefully if the others don’t have captions now, they will soon.
Kate, I’ll have to check my library for that one, thanks!
