Today for the Real Food Wednesday blog carnival I want to tell you about a Real Food movie. This movie will undoubtedly play an important role in getting the word out that changes need to happen with our food supply, and today, on Earth Day, it is a big day for Real Food Media bloggers, because we are kicking off the No GMO Challenge! This movement will also help to bring these issues to the surface, and we hope you’ll join us! Together we can change things!
Visit the FRESH website, and watch for more next week when I’ll post all about the screening for this film in Newport Beach, California. Get this – Ann Marie got us an interview with the film maker, and I can’t wait to tell you everything!
“FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and morbid obesity. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet.”
Powerful one-liners from the FRESH movie trailer:
- Cheap food is an illusion, the real cost of food is paid somewhere.
- Chemical agriculture is like a drug trip, it takes more every year to get the same kick.
- We’ve got an obesity epidemic, diabetes epidemic, nutrient deficiencies…
- We’re talking about 50 years of contamination, the deception of profit over people.
- I’m a caretaker of creation, what I’m supposed to do is leave it in better shape than I found it…period.
- Food is at the foundation, but it’s really about life.

Ok! Don’t know how many of you teared up over the trailer, but I got emotional. Why? Well, first I find it a sin that the food industry is so corrupt & the processed foods that much of this nation consumes is full of chemical garbage. Second, I mourn for the children being raised in ignorance of proper, wholesome nutrition. Third, I am sad for the farmers who do what is right and have a hard time earning a living doing so. But I am also very inspired by all of those people who are striving to make a difference. It starts with education. I fervently pray for this movement to take hold in our country. Happy Earth Day!

Very exciting. I’m glad to see it put in a positive light. Yes, there are problems and corruption. Sure, we need to educate. But with all the bad news out there in the world, I think our strength comes from presenting the good and positive. You have a voice, you can change things, you matter, what you eat can change the country, the choices you make can change the world…

I saw the movie Fresh at the East Lansing Film Festival (MI) in March and also attended a Q & A afterwards with the director. What a great film!!! It is supposed to be available for purchase sometime soon from their website I believe. Their goal is to get everyone to view this film and make changes in their lives. Beautifully done and very convicting.
