Frugal side dishes / salads / dessert recipes

July 17, 2008 · 5 comments

Need some ideas for inexpensive side dishes, salads or dessert recipes?

Recently I was asked by Kimi at The Nourishing Gourmet to join in the Nourishing Frugal Food Carnival, and last week was the frugal carnival for main dishes.

This week, at her friend Stephanie’s blog, Keeper of the Home, they are doing another frugal food carnival. Below are my recipe submissions for frugal side dishes, salads or desserts:

FRUGAL SIDE DISHES:

FRUGAL SALADS:

I have to admit, the way I like my salads are usually not very frugal. I like a lot of ingredients tossed in for an interesting flavor variety. Does anyone have any frugal salad recipe ideas? Please comment below!

FRUGAL DESSERTS:

Be sure to comment below with your frugal recipe ideas!

Kelly, those brownies look just incredible! The may not be entirely frugal, but I agree, sometimes just the fact that it’s homemade makes it good enough. And gosh, I think I could eat a whole plate of those… :)

That green bean dish sounds good. My family doesn’t adore green beans, but I think they would eat them that way. Thanks for the idea!

Wow- I never thought of baking green beans. They look yummy. And those brownies look so good. :)

I have some salad recipes on my blog, if you want to stop by (click on the “My Recipes” tab).

Thanks!
Michele :)

Yum! Those crispy potatoes look delish, and the brownies . . . I’m going to HAVE to make those soon!!

And the caprese salad looks great as well – so light and refreshing!

Best,
Sarah
